Internships and Careers

Internships: Students have done three-credit, 120-hour internships with the American Red Cross, Conde Nast New York City, Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, National Public Radio, Rochester City Ballet, Rochester Knighthawks, Seneca Park Zoo, Toshiba Business Solutions, Memorial Art Gallery, and more.

Internships typically take place junior year or during the summer. Non-credit opportunities are also available.

Careers: Our graduates are employed by many renowned organizations, including SNY-TV Home of the Mets, Butler Till Media, Paychex, Smart Pop Books, Gatehouse Media, Yellow Page City, and a variety of school districts. Some common career pathways, and how to make the most of a Nazareth education:

Editing, Writing, and Publishing
  • Seek employment at the College Writing Center
  • Work on Nazareth's student paper
  • Submit essays to conferences
  • If you are a Communication and Media major, add an English minor
Event Planning
  • Take a leadership role in a campus organization
  • Complete an internship in event planning
Graphic Design or Visual Communication Design
  • Select the Comm and Media major's graphic design specialization
  • Add a Digital Marketing and Design minor
Journalism
  • Select the Comm and Media major's journalism specialization
  • Work on Nazareth's student paper
Law
  • Take the Speechmaking and Society elective
  • Add a Legal Studies minor
Marketing
  • Select the Communication and Media major's marketing specialization
  • Add a marketing minor
  • Seek an internship in marketing at a business, a nonprofit organization, a marketing firm, or at Nazareth's own Marketing and Communications department
Public Relations
  • Select the Communication and Media major's public relations specialization
  • Complete a public relations internship
Social Media
  • Take the Social Media elective
  • Take information systems or visual communication design courses
Technical Writing
  • Select the Communication and Media major's technical writing specialization
  • Submit work to the Society of Technical Communication's Kepner Award (and keep Nazareth's winning streak alive)
