In a field in which every day life or death issues are faced, healthcare workers are stretched to their limits. As the face of patient care, they work long shifts putting their patients’ needs above their own. Under this distress, workplace aggression can become a pervasive issue. Respondents to a 2008 Nursing Management workplace violence survey found that of all the aggression that nurses deal with in the workplace (doctor-nurse, patient-nurse, visitor-nurse, nurse- nurse), lateral nurse- nurse aggression was the most difficult and upsetting to deal with. Come join the conversation with speaker Talya Meyerowitz as she talks about the facts related to aggression and bullying between healthcare workers, and provides strategies to disrupt this behavior in the workplace and in ourselves.
