Nazareth College Commercial Music Competition Project Orientation Meeting

September 4, 2015 2:40 – 3:40 p.m.

ALL NAZARETH COLLEGE STUDENTS are eligible to compete in the 1st Annual Nazareth College Commercial Music Competition. Students will write music for a company called Elio Motors and its new product, the ‘Elio.’

The Elio is a three-wheeled car that is expected to cost $6,800 and get up to 84 miles to the gallon. It is the latest and greatest in car engineering and expected to begin production in Detroit in late 2016. More than 45,000 people have put a deposit on the two-seater.

This will be the first commercial music for the product. Nazareth College students are invited to create music for two different 30-second commercial spots using either music writing software that may include Garage Band and Pro Tools, or live musicians for recording.

Music faculty are available to assist students in creative and technical issues when needed. Nazareth Media Production Specialist Nick Marinaccio and his crew can help with music editing and syncing.

We will show the two 30-second commercial videos at this orientation meeting and then make these videos available for student download. We'll discuss the creative process, creating the final project syncing music with video, specific guidelines for the competition, and the timeline to submit entries.

A 10-member panel of judges will choose 5 finalists. Mr. Paul Elio, president of Elio Motors, will be on campus November 1, 2015, to announce the winner of this competition. Elio Motors will be monitoring our competition and sharing our process with its shareholders.
