Young women from the City of Rochester's Department of Recreation will share stories of girlhood and their perspectives on girl empowerment. Dr. Signithia Fordham, author of Downed by Friendly Fire: Black Girls, White Girls and Suburban Schooling, will provide insights from her research on girlhood, empowerment, and symbolic violence.
