Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover

April 20, 2018 2 – 3:30 p.m.

Nazareth's “Crime & Punishment” class spent this semester visiting the Monroe Correctional Facility for 6 weeks and had “book club” with 8 male inmates.

The students in the class are now hosting an event called “Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover” where we will have an art installation to show people that inmates are just like everyone else and they deserve to be seen as human beings too.

The guest speaker, Travis, was formerly incarcerated at Riker’s Island Prison. He is a social worker and has a college education and he is very eager and excited to speak about his experience as an incarcerated young male.
