DESCRIPTION:<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\">Lecture: Culturally Responsive Gifted Education and Educators: Models\, Resources\, and Strategies to Recruit and Retain Underrepresented Students of Color<br \><\span><\strong><\p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\">Nazareth College is hosting its annual Frontier Center for Urban Education lecture with a special appearance by <strong>Donna Y. Ford\,<\strong> Ph.D.\, professor of education and human development at Vanderbilt University. She teaches in the department of special education and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Teaching and Learning.<\span><\p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\">The lecture takes place on <strong>Friday\, April 12<\strong>\, from 4:30 - 6 p.m. in the Nazareth College Arts Center\, Theater A-14 on the ground floor.<\span><\p>\n<p><span>Ford conducts research primarily in gifted education and multicultural\urban education. Specifically\, her work focuses on: <\span><\p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>recruiting and retaining culturally different students in gifted education<\span><\li>\n<li><span>multicultural and urban education<\span><\li>\n<li><span>achievement gaps<\span><\li>\n<li><span>minority student achievement and underachievement<\span><\li>\n<li><span>family involvement<\span><\li>\n<\ul>\n<p><span>She consults with school districts\, educational\, and legal organizations in the areas of gifted education\, advanced placement\, and multicultural\urban education.<\span><\p>\n<p> <\p>
