Nazareth's Maison Francaise and City of Rochester Commemorate 70th Anniversary of D-Day

Published April 22, 2014

The Nazareth College Franco-American choir will join Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren on Friday, April 25, as she issues a proclamation of April 25-August 4, 2014, as “Freedom and Liberation Days 2014” at a free, public concert by the Rochester Franco-American Choir.  The concert begins a series of events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the World War II D-Day invasion of Normandy (June 6, 1944) by Allied Forces that led to the liberation of France and Rochester’s sister city, Rennes.  The event takes place in the Rochester City Hall Atrium, 12 noon-1:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public.

The Franco American Choir, which was born at Nazareth College’s Maison Française in 2012, will be joined at the concert by local veterans and the flight crew of Geneseo War Plane Museum’s World War II C47 transport troop plane, which will fly to France in June to participate in anniversary celebrations and visit Rennes on June 9th.
