Nazareth Student Danni Ashton Earns Statewide Community Service Award
Nazareth College student Danielle Ashton is one of only ten students across New York State honored with a 2015 Independent Sector Student Community Service Award. She received her award in Albany on March 2 at an awards reception.

Ashton is one of ten New York Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) recipients from independent private, not-for-profit colleges and universities to be recognized for their leadership in community service. Each student awardee receives a $500 scholarship from the H.D. Paley Memorial Scholarship Fund, named in honor of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities’ (cIcu) third president.
TAP helps more than 372,000 students pay their tuition at a New York State college or university. These students make a significant impact within their community every year, showing how volunteerism and community engagement are emblematic of an independent education.
cIcu is a statewide association representing the public policy interests of the chief executives of more than 100 independent colleges and universities in New York State. Its mission is to develop consensus among a diverse membership and to advance higher education public policy.
