Nazareth Awarded $842,000 for Nursing Renovations

Published February 05, 2016

Nazareth is one of four Rochester colleges awarded about $4.3 million in state funds for specified projects. The funds were awarded by the Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Program, according to an announcement by state Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Morelle and Senator Rich Funke.

Under the HECap program, $842,000 will assist the nursing renovations to Smyth Hall at Nazareth College. This program — financed by the Dormitory Authority of New York State — funds capital projects for independent private colleges in New York.

“Nazareth College is on the cutting edge of what is happening in nursing and the allied health fields,” said Nazareth President Daan Braveman. “Our renovated nursing space provides a progressive inter-professional teaching and learning environment where students and faculty can collaborate in clinical services, research, and the development of innovative practices. To be recognized with this grant to support our nursing renovations is an honor."
