Nazareth Nursing Earns High Licensure Pass Rate

Published March 18, 2016

Passing the Registered Professional Nurse National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) is the required pathway to becoming a licensed professional nurse in the United States, and is widely considered one of the most challenging professional licensure examinations across all occupations. Nazareth College is proud to report that its 2015 nursing graduates had a 94%  pass rate during their first time taking the exam.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our students and faculty for the effort and focus that they put into preparing for the  NCLEX-RN”, said Jeanine Santelli, chair of the Nursing Department at Nazareth College. “Not only did we do well in having a high overall pass rate, but the individual performance proves that our students are well prepared for the challenges and opportunities of 21st century nursing.” In addition to the superior performance on the licensure examination, Nazareth College nursing students are now learning in newly-renovated nursing facilities after a $3.6M renovation.

Brigid Noonan, dean of the Health and Human Studies Division, is not surprised by the exceptional performance of the 2015 graduating classes. “Across all of our allied health programs, our students perform exceptionally well on their boards and licensure exams.  Knowing how much our faculty supportively challenge our students, it is not a surprise that we did as well as we have done.”

Ian Mortimer, vice president of Enrollment Management at Nazareth College, believes the pass rate further signals that the options to pursue nursing at Nazareth are the region’s best.  “The exceptional performance of our students, both in their clinical placements and on the NCLEX-RN, coupled with a new real-world and forward-thinking nursing facility, makes Nazareth College an exceptional option for new students and RNs seeking to obtain their bachelor’s degree,” said Mortimer. “Students have lots of options regionally, but no one has the trio of high performance, exceptional facilities, and a direct-entry program like Nazareth does.”

Nazareth College has been preparing nurses since 1943 and continues to pursue excellence so that the region can remain confident in its health care providers.
