McDermott Receives 2016 School of Management Distinguished Alumni Award

Nazareth College School of Management (SOM) is pleased to present Ryan McDermott ‘98 with its 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award. He was chosen based on his business success, service to others, commitment to ethics and social responsibility, and unwavering support of Nazareth College. McDermott will accept his award at the SOM Business and Economics Honor Society Induction Ceremony on Sunday, April 3.   

Having been with Merrill Lynch for more than 16 years, McDermott is a member of the Affluent Concentrators Group, having 50 or more clients with over $1million in assets at the firm. He has earned the coveted designation of a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor SM, from the College Of Financial Planning in Denver, Colo.

McDermott graduated from Nazareth College in 1998 and enjoyed success as a lacrosse player. He won two national championships and was named to the All-American lacrosse team three times. Upon graduation, he was inducted into the Nazareth College Athletics Hall of Fame and went on to become a professional lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits.

He is actively involved with the Nazareth Lacrosse Alumni, and currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Nazareth College School of Management. Ryan has also become a vital part of the college’s Professional Internship Program by mentoring many students from Nazareth.

McDermott resides in Garden City, N.Y. with his wife Kim and their three children.
