The Vanishing Voter: A Panel Discussion, Sept. 15

Published September 13, 2016

The Nazareth College Political Science Department and the Fairport Area Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will convene a panel to hear perspectives about  The Vanishing Voter: the quandaries our citizens are exhibiting about voting in national, state, and local elections and how we can voice reasons to encourage citizens to register and vote despite potential reservations about the outcome. Timothy Kneeland, professor and chair of History and Political Science and Center for Public History director at Nazareth College, will first provide comments on his perspective and opinions about voting, with a call for students to be more involved in the voting process. This event will take place on September 15, at 7:00 pm, in the Nazareth College Arts Center Peace Theater, located on the lower level of the building.  It is free and open to the public.  Nazareth College is located at 4245 East Avenue, Rochester, N.Y., 14618.

Following Kneeland’s comments,  panel participants will include Nazareth student leader Ryan Page, president of the Undergraduate Association, Patricia Thompson, an AAUW Fairport Area Branch member, and Rachel Bailey-Jones, director of the Core Curriculum at Nazareth College and the College/ University liaison between AAUW and Nazareth College.
