Nazareth Welcomes New Metalsmithing Professor and Art Gallery Director Holland Houdek

Nazareth College welcomes Holland Houdek as assistant professor of jewelry and metalsmithing in the Art Department. She is also the new art gallery director for both the main College Art Center Gallery and Colacino Gallery. Houdek takes over the course offerings in metalsmithing after the retirement of faculty emerita Lynn Duggan.

Houdek, whose work is a modern interpretation of the ‘memento mori’ tradition, focuses on utilizing metals to repurpose and exaggerate medical implants in a contemporary manner. This body of work has given Houdek the opportunity to showcase her metals talent worldwide including, China, Taiwan, Germany, Spain, Lithuania, Canada, Mexico, and Morocco, as well as win numerous awards.

She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA) in Jewelry & Metalsmithing from Syracuse University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
