Published July 28, 2022

Nazareth College is committed to transformative education for its second century and has hired Executive Director of Expansive Naz Janet Anderson to help lead that charge. She began at Nazareth on July 25.

Expansive Naz is designed to expand innovative models of teaching and learning to bring the Nazareth mission to a wide range of learners, and build awareness of Nazareth in the region and beyond. Expansive Naz is one of five strategic priorities Nazareth has defined to shape its future, along with advancing changemakers, furthering an equity mindset, centering opportunities for students to be engaged with impact, and fostering a vibrant campus-connected community.

Anderson is an experienced higher education, marketing, and business development senior executive with a passion for education and expertise driving growth in diverse environments, including top tier universities, multinational corporations, and entrepreneurial start-ups. She was chosen after a national search chaired by Nazareth Provost Maureen Forrester Finney and Vice President for Advancement Darrell Bell.

At Cornell University, Anderson was director of professional programs and extended learning for Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, where she was responsible for the development and leadership of innovative professional master’s degree and online certificate programs.

Previously, as executive director of professional programs at University of Rochester’s Simon Business School, Anderson designed, launched, and led Simon’s master’s degree programs in finance, management, and health care in New York City, and the accelerated professional MBA program in Rochester. She also served as an adjunct instructor of marketing and global business in the undergraduate program at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Anderson enjoyed a successful global corporate career prior to her transition to higher education. She led the worldwide marketing organization for Eastman Kodak’s $1.1B motion picture and television business and for six years was the regional marketing director and sales manager based in Geneva, Switzerland, and London, England.

Anderson is a magna cum laude graduate of Wellesley College, with concentrations in mathematics and economics. She received an MBA in finance and marketing from the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester. She lives in  Pittsford, New York, where she and her husband, David, raised their two adult sons, Collin and Troy. Her hobbies include bicycling, travel, skiing, and playing fetch with her German shepherds.

Active in the community, she served on the board of The Children’s Agenda and as a member of the George Eastman Circle. She is currently the vice chair of the Business Leadership Council of Wellesley College, a by-invitation association of Wellesley alumnae who are senior leaders in the business and non-profit sectors, and a member of the Simon Women’s Alliance.
