Did you do an internship or fieldwork as part of your program?

Yes, I worked at Action For a Better Community as a Summer Youth Employment & Training Program Coordinator. In this role I directed/assigned youth to specific organizations that provided structured project-based paid summer work experiences for youth between the ages of 14-21.

How did you get involved with Career Services?

In my sophomore year at Nazareth College, I connected with Career Services to enhance my resume. As I would learn over the years, first impressions are just that, first impressions. In most cases the resume is the first thing employers will see.  I wanted my resume to look professional. Thanks to Career Services, I was able to land multiple job opportunities in order to build up my work experience… which eventually helped me land my dream job!

What resources of the office would you recommend to others?

As a way to be proactive and not reactive, students should seek out the Career Center for Career Counseling in freshman year! I liken the Career Center to that of a GPS navigation system. Utilizing the different career assessment tools and having the conversation early on about career pathways will help guide the youth in the direction of finding that ideal employment opportunity.

What did you enjoy most about being a Nazareth College student?

It was during my college years that I became an adult. My coming of age moment was when I realized that I no longer depending on my parents to make decisions for me.  In time, I found myself becoming the decision maker while I viewed my parents as consultants/advisors.

What does the future hold for you?

If I want to keep up with the changing environment of the workplace, additional education will be needed. My goal is to return back to Nazareth to obtain a Masters in Management.
