Kailee O’Hara ’13, Nazareth’s leading field hockey scorer in 2012, was selected as a first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star for the second year in a row. The all-star teams were announced following voting among the league’s head coaches.
In addition to O’Hara, Tessa Knapp ’13 and Lindsey Smith ’13 each were named to the second team. Isabel Wittmaack ’15 was the Golden Flyers’ representative as E8 Sportswoman of the Year. Nazareth finished 6-11 overall in 2012 with a 2-6 conference mark.
O’Hara, of Camden, N.Y. and a graduate of Camden High School, was the Golden Flyers’ leading scorer in 2012 with 25 points on 11 goals, three assists. She finished her career as the Golden Flyers’ all-time assist leader with 19. She ranks third all-time in career scoring with 77 points, including 29 goals. O’Hara also represented Nazareth in the Division III Senior Game, hosted by William Smith in November.
Knapp, of Marathon, N.Y. and a graduate of Marathon High School, was the Golden Flyers’ second leading scorer in 2012 with 14 points on three goals and a team-best eight assists. In two seasons with the Golden Flyers, Knapp amassed 37 points on 11 goals, 15 assists. She also was a second-team E8 all-star in 2011.
Smith, of Manlius, N.Y. and a graduate of Cazenovia High School, delivered 13 points on four goals and five assists in 2012. She ranks seventh all-time in career scoring with 46 points on 15 goals, 16 assists.
