Interactive Seminar: Coalition building w/ Cona Marshall

February 10, 2020 4 – 5:30 p.m.

Cona Marshall obtained a Master’s of Theological Studies from Vanderbilt Divinity School and a Ph.D. in African American and African Studies with a concentration in Cultural Rhetoric(s) from Michigan State University. Cona is a womanist rhetoric scholar who engages constellating systems of race, rhetoric, religion, and gender. She is now a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Rochester’s Frederick Douglass Institute and will transition into a tenure-track position in the Religion and Classics Department at the University of Rochester—exploring histories of hip hop, humor, gender, Black religions, and meaning-making.

This interactive seminar will address the notion of allyship as well as the different meanings individuals associate with "allying" and "coalition building" and foster coalition building among fellow colleagues and peers.
