Men's Hockey vs Chatham - Australian Wildlife Relief Fundraiser

February 15, 2020 4 – 6 p.m.

  • Bill Gray's Iceplex
  • Open to Nazareth and Rochester Community
  • Attendance is Free

The Golden Flyers host Chatham at 4 p.m. for Australian Wildlife Relief Night.

Junior Casey Kubara hails from Sydney, Australia and the Nazareth hockey team is banding together help out their teammates country. All the money raised from the event will be donated to Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Services, Inc. (WIRES). The organization has been overwhelmed with the relief effort that is affecting an estimated 1 billion animals in Australia. Relief workers across the country are actively helping animals that have had their habitat destroyed and are working daily to relocate and rehabilitate the affected wildlife.

Kubara and the team will accept donations at the door and have several additional ways for fans to donate to the effort. There will be 50/50 drawings all weekend (there are men's and women's hockey games Friday and Saturday as Nazareth takes on Stevenson and Chatham while the women play Wilkes and King's) as well as chuck-a-puck and additional basket and gift certificate raffles.

One of the major donation options is a jersey auction that is currently underway and will conclude at the Chatham game on the 15th. The Nazareth team is donating game-worn jerseys from the December 15, 2013 game that was played outdoors at Frontier Field in Rochester. Several jerseys worn during that commemorative game will be auctioned off with on-line bids as well as bids made in person at the games on February 14 and 15 at the Bill Gray's Iceplex.

Transportation is provided for all Nazareth College students. A bus will be in front of the Shults Community Center an hour before the start time of each game, and will transport students to and from the Bill Gray's Iceplex.
