Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates, Resources, and Response

College Responses

In consultation with health experts, Nazareth is taking multiple steps to reduce the risk and spread of the respiratory illness known as COVID-19.

  • If you have health concerns, see the Health Concerns section below.
  • Many student services are now available remotely; see Virtual Support.
  • Commencement is being postponed from May to July; a new date and details will be shared as soon as they are available. All graduating students will still officially earn their degrees as of May 9, and diplomas will be mailed as soon as possible thereafter.
  • Academic instruction resumed on Monday, March 23, using alternative delivery such as online instruction, and continues through the end of the semester.
  • All in-person campus events, activities, and on-campus meetings are canceled until further notice. See the Events calendar for virtual events for current students and Admissions Visits & Events for prospective/accepted student virtual events.

What this means for our current students and families:

  • Adjustments for on-campus room and board charges, and for Dining Dollars, are being made. (See Billing Questions section below.)
  • Residence halls closed March 22 except for some students unable to leave. They are served by modified campus services including to-go dining and student health and counseling.
  • All student employment and grad assistantship roles on campus are suspended currently.
  • Nazareth-sponsored international and domestic travel through July 31 is canceled.

What this means for our faculty and staff:

  • Pursuant to the governor's orders, only essential staff are permitted on campus.
  • If you have traveled to a CDC Warning Level 3 country in the last 14 days, you are not permitted to return to the Nazareth campus for any reason right now and are required to self-quarantine at home for 14 days and to notify Nazareth (see March 13 CDC Level 3 email below). If you have traveled anywhere outside Monroe County, N.Y., since March 1, 2020, you are asked to voluntarily self report using Nazareth's private, protected travel form. Also see Travel section below.
  • Nonessential College-sponsored international and domestic business travel is prohibited for faculty and staff until further notice.

Continued Monitoring

Nazareth's task force of campus leaders, including health experts and emergency management personnel, continues to work with national and local health officials and agencies to ensure the College remains up to date with relevant information and actions to protect our community. We encourage all of our community members to take precautions and exercise good preventative health practices.
