Return to Campus

Nazareth Community Pledge

All students, faculty, and staff are required to review and sign this pledge by August 17 within a required health and safety training (online).

Nazareth’s return to campus fall 2020 plans are guided by our core values to provide the highest quality educational experience to our students and ensure the health and safety of our College community and the wider community. We are following state guidance as we innovate and adapt to continue enabling and preparing students to pursue their life’s work and to make a difference in the world.

Being part of our Golden Flyer community means we respect each other and commit to helping create a healthy and safe learning and working campus environment. Our goal is to have every community member understand how interconnected we all are, especially when it comes to managing through COVID-19. Every student, faculty, and staff member must take responsibility for practicing healthy behaviors and following the health and safety guidelines established by Nazareth College to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on campus and in the surrounding community.

As a member of the Nazareth College community, I pledge to:

1. Care for myself

  • Complete the daily Nazareth COVID-19 screening tool and provide accurate and updated information within two (2) hours prior to arriving at work or moving about campus.
  • Practice personal hygiene by washing my hands frequently with soap and water or sanitizing with hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent ethanol or 70 percent isopropanol.
  • Follow public health guidelines to help protect myself and others.

2. Care for others

  • Stay home — I will stay home or in my residence hall room if I am sick with COVID-19 symptoms or know that I have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. I will follow the College’s protocols for isolation or quarantine.
  • Wear an appropriate face covering while on campus when in the presence of others outside of my personal office/enclosed workspace or residence hall room.
  • Ensure social distancing by maintaining at least six (6) feet of distance from other members of the Nazareth community and by limiting in-person meetings, if possible.

3. Care for the Nazareth College community

  • Observe health and safety signs posted throughout campus and follow directions and guidance issued by the College.
  • Clean and disinfect my own workspace and any shared departmental or community (common) areas.
  • Affirm and sustain my commitment to cultivating a community of belonging. I will renew my understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion. These values guide our treatment of faculty, students, and staff by calling on us to continuously remove the barriers that cause inequity in order to foster a diverse and inclusive community. This removal centers on ending hate, violence, prejudice, bias, and injustice to support an equitable society at the intersections of our respective identities. During this time of great uncertainty based on the COVID-19 pandemic, I will treat my peers, faculty, and staff with the respect every human being deserves and not promote, participate in, or allow my own bias to impede the access and opportunity of others in my community.
  • Provide support — Recognizing that this is a stressful and overwhelming time, I will also do what I can to support others in my community by listening and assisting when I can. I will employ patience and understanding, knowing that this is a dynamic situation. I will make efforts to be part of the solution.
  • Modify my actions and encourage others to do the same as guidelines and recommendations adapt over time. As a community, we will hold each other accountable.

I understand all of the above and commit to reading, understanding, and following the specifics found in each safety policy listed below:

  • Health Monitoring
  • Social Distancing
  • Face Covering
  • Workplace/Common Space Cleaning and Disinfection
  • Hygiene
