Recipient of the 2016 Rochester Area Colleges Continuing Education (RACCE) award, Yadira Rivera '16G graduated last May with her master's degree in social work,

which she pursued at Nazareth’s satellite location in Auburn. She plans to become a licensed clinical social worker at a mental health clinic.


Which talent would you most like to have?

To play the guitar and speak Italian.


What trait do you most like about yourself?

Determination and optimism.


What trait do you least like about yourself?

That sense of urgency.


What’s your favorite place to hang out?

Sitting in front of the ocean.


What would be your ideal job?

To get paid to travel and study new cultures.


Who is your favorite fictional character (hero, villain, or regular guy)?

Peter Pan, Mulan, The Hulk


What about you would surprise people the most?

I never learned how to whistle and now I get annoyed when others do.


When and where were you happiest?

When I held my child for the first time.


Who are your heroes in real life?

My sister—she is a warrior. Mother Theresa, Eva Peron, and Facundo Cabral.


What’s your favorite meal and why?

White chocolate chip pancakes with fresh strawberry fruits, because it has been my comfort food since I was a teenager.


In the movie of your life, who would star as you?

Puerto Rican actress Rosie Perez.
