Renee van der Vennet

Dr. van der Vennet  has experience facilitating and co-facilitating individual and group counseling and therapy with diverse populations, both children and adults in crisis and trauma, dealing with sexual assault and domestic violence, people with psychiatric illnesses, and adults dealing with chemical dependency and grief issues. She also works with people exploring personal growth.

Most recently she worked at Memorial Hermann Prevention and Recovery Center as a Program Therapist providing individual and grief therapy for adults dealing with addiction issues. Her teaching experience includes the University of Houston-Clear Lake and the Jung Center.  Dr. van der Vennet worked as a Research Scientist in Chemistry for Shell Oil Company prior to becoming a psychotherapist. 

Her recent publications have appeared in the American Journal of Art Therapy. Her research interests include the areas of secondary trauma, burnout, dreams, creativity, and art therapy. She is especially interested in outcome studies on the efficacy of art therapy.
