Beyond the Classroom Walls: Ways to engage in creative activity and research

October 18, 2016 12:10 – 1 p.m.

Curious about the paths that students from diverse majors discovered for research and creative activity at Naz?   Hear from student presenters:

  • Gwendolyn Dougherty, Physical Therapy major and History minor, combined her interests in researching wound care techniques in Ancient Rome.
  • Juliana Posato, double major in Sociology and Women and Gender Studies, utilized data from Twitter and Tumblr to explore the discrepancy in frequency of orgasms between cis-genders
  • Elaina Hedberg, International Business major and Entertainment and Recording Industry minor, drew on her study abroad experiences in Berlin to inform her research on the implications of the largest mass migration of people to Germany since World War II
  • Jacob Murphy and Alyssa Merrill, Biology majors, are investigating the phytoremediation potential of a native plant, Blue Bush Lake Beans, for its effectiveness in removing BPA from aquatic media
  • Daryn Loy, Environmental Science and Sustainability major, investigated various water quality parameters in surface water and wetlands in a geologically diverse area in Mendon Ponds Park

And celebrate curiosity and Curious George’s 75th birthday with free lunch and cake!
