Internationally known theologian and lecturer Agbonkhianmeghe E. Orobator will be presenting Fair of My Father, Spirit of My Mother: Resources from African Religion for the Renewal of the World Church on Thursday, April 10 at 7:00 p.m.in the Forum of the Otto A. Shults Community Center. Orobator will also present The Christian Way of Life: Making Room for God in the Public Square on Friday, April 11 at 1:30 p.m. in the Linehan Chapel of the Golisano Academic Center. Orobator teaches theology and religious studies at Hekima College, Jesuit School of Theology and the Institute of Peace Studies in Nairobi, Kenya. He was born in Nigeria, where he converted to Catholicism, and then he studied in England where he became a Jesuit and was ordained a priest. Orobator currently serves as the provincial of the Eastern African Province of the Society of Jesus—a province that includes six countries.
In his 2008 publication of Theology Brewed in an African Pot, Orobator expresses his determination to integrate who he is as a scholar, teacher, pastoral leader, and, above all, a person of faith. His other books include From Crisis to Kairos: A Critical Theology of the Mission of the Church in the Time of HIV/AIDS, Refugees and Poverty (2005) and The Church as Family: African Ecclesiology in Its Social Context (2000).
