Nazareth Announces Director of Chinese Student Programs

Published July 02, 2014

Nazareth College is proud to announce Qiang Lou, Ph.D., as director of Chinese Student Programs as well as a part-time assistant professor of biology.

Lou is Nazareth College’s liaison with our partner universities in China, helping Nazareth develop both broad student and faculty exchange relationships and dual degree programs.  He facilitates the short-term visits of faculty and students from China throughout the summer and during the school year, many of whom will study in Nazareth’s Center for International Education’s American Language Institute.  Lou supports interested Chinese students in completing their applications, and works with academic advisement and individual advisors to help the students choose courses both appropriate to their majors and to our core curriculum, but also with escalating demands in English writing and speaking so that they can be successful throughout their time at the College.

Lou’s role is crucial in jump-starting the dual degree program in Music, which begins in Fall 2016, with an anticipated 20 additional students coming to Nazareth from Shandong Normal University to earn their degrees each year.

In the biology department, Lou, whose doctorate is in cancer biology and research, will teach laboratories and lecture in the area of cancer biology.
