Jane Shebert, chemistry lab coordinator in the Biochemistry Department at Nazareth College, received the 2015 Salutes to Excellence Award from the American Chemical Society. The Salutes to Excellence Award recognizes American Chemical Society (ACS) members with outstanding accomplishments or achievements in chemistry throughout their community. The award was presented by Glen Labenski, chair of the Rochester Section and Nazareth College alumnus, at the recognition dinner in October of this year.
Shebert serves as a logistics chair for the Rochester Section of the American Chemical Society. She aids in planning and implementing the chapter’s annual high school awards, a community outreach program to over 1,000 high schools students and 66 high schools located in Rochester. In addition, Shebert contributes to the St. John Fisher Exploration Days, ACS Emerging Technology series, and Careers in Chemistry for area college students.
