Nazareth College is proud to announce Hongzhuan (Sam) Song, Ph.D., as the new director of the English Language Institute, director of the Asia Pacific Rim Initiatives, and assistant professor in the School of Education.
Song is a well-known educator and leader, with more than 15 years of educational experience in teaching, administration, and research. He earned his masters in TESOL from Fresno Pacific University, and pursued his doctorate in Educational and Policy Administration from the University of Minnesota. Upon graduation, Song started working as President for the International Council of Education, teaching as a core faculty member for Capella University. After, he was offered a position as founding director of the English Language Institute at Salisbury University and worked on various teaching assignments within the School of Education and English departments. There, he assisted in the creation of the Office for Pacific Rim Initiatives at the University, in which he was responsible for curriculum development, evaluation, revision, instruction and developing partnerships with overseas higher education institutes.
In order to further promote international, educational exchange, Song became founding president and CEO of International Council for Education and Development, a non-profit organization that provides networking opportunities and creates objectives for Chinese higher education institutes. By developing, marketing, and budgeting programs through the International Council, Song was able to establish a quality education provider inside China.
Song’s professional experience with international and higher education will open new doors for the School of Education and the English Language Institute at Nazareth College.
