Three Nazareth College students have been recognized for the Rochester Area Colleges Continuing Education (RACCE) Outstanding Adult Student Awards. Chad McDonald ‘17, Anani Serbeniuk ‘18, and Dusten Green ‘17G (pictured left to right) have been named because of their continued commitment to higher education and their academic excellence.
The RACCE Outstanding Adult Student Awards are given to candidates who show an intense dedication to their education despite the challenges adult learners typically face. In order to be considered for this award, students must show excellence in academics and an ability to balance personal and professional responsibilities while working towards a college degree.
McDonald is a social work major and father of three who not only finds time to excel in the classroom, but support his family through working two part-time jobs, and organize and coach in a local Rochester youth football program.
Serbeniuk carries a 4.0 GPA as a double major in Spanish and communication sciences and disorders while raising her 4-year-old son as a single parent. She manages to also find time to work a number of jobs, as well as volunteer with the Best Buddies program on campus that teams up with the Life Prep program.
Green is completing his master’s degree in social work through the satellite campus in Watertown, N.Y. He cares for his mother who suffered a stroke in 2016 and works full time at River Hospital in Alexandria Bay, where he works with veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
