Published June 05, 2017

Chris Baudo, director and head coach at Selects Academy, has been named head women's hockey coach at Nazareth College.

The Golden Flyers, members of the United Collegiate Hockey Conference, will begin their first season of intercollegiate play in 2018, however Baudo's start date at Nazareth is July 1.

A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Baudo has been with the Selects Academy, housed at Bishop Kearney High School, since the program's inception in 2015. He was responsible for building the hockey program from scratch by recruiting elite-level female hockey players from across the United States. For the first year, he recruited 20 players that competed in the 16U level and he guided the team to a record of 49-10-7 while competing in tournaments across the country. A second team is expected to be added in September.

"We are pleased to have attracted a coach with Chris' credentials for our first-year women's hockey program," said Nazareth Athletic Director Pete Bothner. "He comes equipped with strong organizational skills and a proven record of program building."

Before joining Selects Academy, Baudo spent 15 years at The Gunnery prep school in Washington, Conn. He was director of the ice hockey program and boys head coach from 2003 through 2016 and compiled an overall record of 239-120-26 with eight 20-win seasons.

Other roles at The Gunnery included Assistant Head of School, Dean of Students and Senior Associate Director of Admissions. Baudo also spent one year coaching boys hockey and baseball at The Culvers Academies in Indiana.

Baudo is a 2000 graduate of Hamilton College, where he played four seasons of hockey and was twice named team MVP. He has a Master of Arts degree from George Washington University. His coaching experience includes serving on the player development committee for the New York State Amateur Ice Hockey Association and coaching at the USA Hockey National Festival in 2002, 2006 and 2008.

Baudo resides in Pittsford, N.Y., with his wife Shannon and six-year-old twins.

Nazareth recently announced the addition of women's hockey to its athletic offerings, bringing its total of intercollegiate teams to 25. The Golden Flyers will play their home games at the Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex on the Monroe Community College campus. Nazareth's men's hockey team, which begins its sixth season in 2017, also practices and plays there.
