Grad student chosen for Russia youth leadership and entrepreneurship exchange

Published February 08, 2021

Nazareth College graduate student Meagan Maher '20, '21G, is set to participate in the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) Russia Youth Leadership and Entrepreneurship Virtual Exchange — the fourth selective multi-college leadership experience of her Nazareth College years. Maher, who is working on her master's degree in global business & leadership (GBL), is one of 15 young leaders from the United States joining 15 university students from Russia for this 10-week virtual exchange program, fully funded by the U.S. Department of State. The program runs February 15 - April 29.

"I am excited to be part of a program that involves collaborating with students across the country and to build relationships with students abroad, and to have discussions on disability awareness and community youth development," said Maher. While she was an undergrad at Naz, Maher was a participant in the 12th Annual Clinton Global Initiative University and the goal of her project "Autistically Beautiful" was to have professors and students learn from and accept people with disabilities.

The CIEE Russia exchange is designed to connect innovative student leaders from Russia and the United States. This dynamic exchange will focus on:

  • Building business and entrepreneurship skills
  • Developing Intercultural competency
  • Pushing boundaries in advocacy for inclusion by creating innovation and employment opportunities for people with disabilities

Last fall, Maher and her classmates participated in a Global Shark Tank competition in partnership with students from Australian Catholic University. She also was part of a team of Nazareth GBL students who participated in ROC the Project, an inter-college competition sponsored by the Project Management Institute.
