Two Holiday Gala Concerts, Dec. 4 & 5

Published November 22, 2021

It's time to celebrate the holiday season, and the Nazareth College School of Music presents a program of festive music at the Rose Marie and John Beston Annual Holiday Gala, guaranteed to warm your heart and brighten your spirits! This event will take place on Saturday, December 4, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, December 5, at 3 p.m., in Glazer Music Performance Center’s Beston Hall.

THE PERFORMANCE
“This will be the first year that we are adding an additional performance to this event, and we are hoping that the annual Gala will be embraced by the Rochester community as a holiday tradition,” said David Davies, director of Nazareth’s School of Music. This event is a continuation and expansion of Nazareth's long standing "Prism'' concert tradition, and it shares many similarities with that event. Like the Prism, the Holiday Gala will feature a variety of performers and genres, and will make use of multiple performance spaces throughout Beston Hall. Unlike a traditional Prism concert, the Gala will follow a standard concert format, with moments for applause between pieces, and increased involvement from our large ensembles.

The Rose Marie and John Beston Annual Holiday Gala will feature performances from the Symphony Orchestra, the Treble and Chamber Choirs, the Brass Choir, the Saxophone Ensemble, a percussion trio, a jazz combo, the Horn Choir, the Tuba/Euphonium Choir, Chamber Strings, pianists, and a vocal jazz group. Some of the popular works that will be included are: Sleigh Ride and selections from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker performed by the Symphony Orchestra, Winter Wonderland performed by a vocal jazz ensemble, and selections from hit holiday films such as A Charlie Brown Christmas, Frozenand Home Alone
