Nazareth is hosting its first fall institute for teachers and other school professionals: Supporting Students and Each Other for Equity, Learning, and Healing. It takes place on Saturday, November 13, 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., in the Golisano Academic Center on campus. Sponsored by Nazareth’s School of Education, the institute is designed for community, in-person connection and reflection in the form of a professional development to prepare teachers, social workers, school counselors, community youth development professionals, and more for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. Register today.The cost is $45. Registration includes breakfast, lunch, and all events at the Institute. Registration closes at noon on November 3.
The day will feature keynote speaker Kiah Nyame, Ed.D, CPE, LPC, LEC, along with breakout sessions conducted by Nazareth leaders. Topics will include mental health for students and mental health for teachers; anti-racism, facing embedded personal bias, and working to be inclusive; dealing with grief, change, and stress; maintaining healthy work-home life balance, and much more.
New York State Board of Regents member, Ruth Turner (M.S., MSW), who received her B.S. in Social work from Nazareth, will be the closing speaker. She was appointed to the New York State Board of Regents for a one-year term effective March 2, 2021.
