Human resource certification now easier for graduate students

Published September 09, 2021

A new designation means that students pursuing a master's in people analytics and leadership (PAL) at Nazareth College are well positioned to get professional certification from the national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Nazareth's PAL master's program is now aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates, which makes students who are in good standing, with 500 hours of relevant HR experience, eligible to earn the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) designation in their final year of study.

"Students will benefit from having a solid foundation in human resources competencies and this designation supports their eligibility requirements to take SHRM certified professional examinations," said Stephen Hill, Ph.D., program director for the PAL graduate program. "This is a great thing because it validates that Nazareth's curriculum connects students to the standards and knowledge competencies as outlined by SHRM."

Worldwide, programs at approximately 425 educational institutions have been acknowledged by SHRM as being in alignment with its suggested guides and templates.
