Sondheim classic musical Into the Woods on stage April 28-30

One of Sondheim's most popular works, Into the Woods is a musically sophisticated show with the opportunity to feature actors adept at dark comedy, highlighting the fantastical elements of a magical world. This Tony award-winning musical will be performed in the Nazareth Arts Center’s Callahan Theater on Thursday, April 28; Friday, April 29; and Saturday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m; the Saturday evening performance includes American Sign Language interpretation. There is also a matinee on Saturday, April 30, at 2 p.m. The timing of the show is a celebration of composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim’s legacy. Sondheim passed away in November 2021.

Student Art Show Opens April 5

Nazareth College’s Art and Design Department is hosting the 2022 Student Art Show and the Art Education Graduate Show in the Arts Center Gallery and Colacino Gallery. Both shows run Friday, April 5 - April 21.  Opening receptions are Friday, April 8, from 5-7 p.m. in the Arts Center Gallery and Colacino Gallery. The award ceremony will take place at 6 p.m.

Theatre and Dance Department presents John Proctor is the Villain

The Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department presents the mystery-thriller John Proctor is the Villain, written by Kimberly Belflower and directed by Rachel Solomon. It plays in the Callahan Theater on Thursday, February 24, Friday, February 25, and Saturday, February 26, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, February 26 and Sunday, February 27, at 2 p.m.

School of Music presents a Wind Festival Weekend including more than 80 high school students, Feb. 11-12

Nazareth College School of Music welcomes more than 80 high school musicians from 25 different schools in Western New York to Nazareth for a special wind festival weekend featuring the Nazareth Wind Symphony, the Eastman Community Music School (ECMS) Music Educators Wind Ensemble (MEWE), and the 2022 High School Honor Band.

Nazareth Chamber Singers gain international attention for a special performance

Nazareth College Chamber Singers gained international attention after Sweden’s premier music publisher, Gehrmans Musikförlag, featured the choir’s November 2021 performance of There is no Rose by Agneta Sköld. The publisher highlights international choirs committed to performing Swedish choral music in its 2021 “Swedish Choral Music — The Choirs.
