Emily Virgil, a Nazareth communication and media major, interned for the summer at Symphoria, gaining hands-on experience in digital media, photography, music administration, and event coordination.
Her experience was supported by a Nazareth SPARK Grant, which provided her with $1,500 plus a scholarship to cover the three credits she earned (worth more than $2,400). "I think it's really meaningful that Naz gives you multiple opportunities to do this, especially through the SPARK Grant," she says. "Having people I know have my back and are just as invested in my education as I am is really helpful...."
Emily got her Master of Science in Educational Administration, Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from the University of Rochester - Warner School of Education. She continued working at the University of Rochester as an academic advisor at the College Center for Advising Services.
Emily also continued working within the music industry as a piano accompanist and a professional musician, carrying out various roles such as a collaborative pianist, vocal/music director, pit orchestra musician, wedding pianist, vocalist, and vocal coach.
