Women's Health Nurse Practitioner

Check requirements

Applicants must:

  • have completed a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • have a cumulative undergraduate nursing GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • possess a current, active, unencumbered Professional Registered Nurse license and registration to practice professional nursing in the U.S.
  • meet the health requirements of the University and the nursing department
  • For preferred status, have completed one year of RN work experience

Deadline

Preferred deadline: October 15

  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis through December 15 as space permits.
  • All students start in January.
  • Applications open in June.

Create an account and complete your application online via NursingCAS.

The NursingCAS application includes four sections:

  1. Personal Information
  2. Academic History — which includes submitting official transcripts from all colleges you’ve attended
  3. Supporting Information
  4. Program Materials

Preference: Any student who meets all application requirements and has earned a degree from and completed 60 credits or more at Nazareth University receives preference in the form of a guaranteed interview. If you are a preferential candidate and are not granted admission, you will not be offered preference in subsequent application cycles.

Personal Statement & Essay Question

Through NursingCAS, please submit answers to the following writing prompts:

  • Why do you want to become a women’s health nurse practitioner?
  • Describe a time when you advocated for a patient. Did you use evidence-based practice, conflict management, patient education, something else?

Both answers should be approximately 500 words long.

References

Provide names and email addresses via NursingCAS for three satisfactory references. Preferred recommenders include RNs in leadership roles at a current workplace, colleagues with advanced nursing degrees, and nursing instructors. Ideally, these individuals should be familiar with your clinical work. NursingCAS will email an electronic questionnaire and rating scale directly to your references.

Interview

After an initial review, eligible applicants will be invited to schedule an interview with the admissions committee.
