The Money Tree

Friday, October 20, 2017

10 – 11 a.m.
12 – 1 p.m.

When her father loses his job, Shasta is devastated to learn that plans for her upcoming birthday party must be significantly downsized—including canceling the pony rides and magician she had promised her friends.

Upon seeing her sadness, Shasta's friend Simon leads her on a magical journey, where they meet a mysterious Traveler who gives them a seed that will grow into a tree with leaves of money. Unable to keep to the rules set out by the Traveler, Simon and Shasta ultimately learn that being a loyal friend is worth much more than having a big party or all the latest toys.

This production introduces elementary school audiences to concepts related to financial literacy, explores the idea of needs versus wants, and affirms the power of imagination and creativity.

The show will be followed by a 10-15 minute Q&A in the theater.
