The Mathematics Contest in Modeling challenges teams of students to clarify, analyze, and propose solutions to open ended problems. It is held annually over a long weekend in February and teams from more than 500 colleges and universities world-wide have taken part in the past. The contest is sponsored by COMAP, the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications.
COMAP's Mathematical Contest in Modeling is unique among modeling competitions is that it is the only international contest in mathematical tools to explore real-world problems. It serves the educational community as well as the world of work by preparing students to become better informed - and prepared - citizens.
Teams from Nazareth University have been particularly successful in past contests, having received several Honorable Mentions and Meritorious awards. One team was named the Outstanding Team and flown to Vancouver to present their paper at a COMAP mathematics convention.
