La Maison Française at Nazareth University is both a residence hall as well as a staple of French culture in the Rochester area. Each year la Maison Française welcomes up to 12 students interested in French language and francophone cultures as well as those hailing from francophone countries.
This spacious converted mansion also serves as a meeting place for Le Cercle Français (the French Club), and welcomes joint events with Alliance Française de Rochester (AfR) and other cultural groups devoted to the promotion of French language and Francophone cultures in Rochester. It also hosts stand alone events for Rochester-area Francophiles. Cultural dinners, conversation groups, lectures, movies, or exhibits are among the countless events offered by La Maison each semester.
The annual series is sponsored by the French program and La Maison Française.
The French House offers a very different experience from living in a dorm. It's a home away from home. Time at the French House deeply transforms the lives of student residents who develop a special bond with international students from France and the warm, friendly environment they cultivate!
If you are a Naz student interested in living at the French House, Dr. Mireille Le Breton, mlebret5@naz.edu, to learn how to apply.
The French House is proud to sponsor the Franco American choir (aka the FA choir), composed of Nazareth students, faculty, and staff, as well as Rochester community members. The French choir meets to enjoy singing in French and other languages, and to offer performances for the Nazareth and Rochester communities.
