Doing Philosophy Dangerously:  Black Lives Matter as Public Philosophy

Golisano Academic Center  Room 325

This talk uses Michel Foucault’s concepts of critique and parhessia to index philosophical practices that intervene in injustice. The discussion will explore how the recently issued Black Lives Matter platform performs an ethico-political intervention generating possibilities for social change. It also analyzes some of the ways that innocence can function as an impediment to the exposure of injustice.
