This office is committed to providing the highest educational opportunities for New York and out of state residents admitted through one of our three programs. Through intentional efforts, we enhance our students college experience with academic enrichment initiatives, social and cultural events, and individualized academic planning.
Participating students start with a six-week, six credit residential summer program taking a variety of courses as well as community building activities to assist them in developing a support system while becoming acclimated to the college and the surrounding community.
The Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) is an educational program approved by the New York State legislature that serves New York State residents. The HEOP program at Nazareth is jointly funded by the College and the New York State Education Department. HEOP provides a broad range of services to New York State residents who, because of academic and economic circumstances, would otherwise be unable to attend post-secondary non-public educational institutions.
The Excel Program is offered to facilitate access to and success at Nazareth College, for eligible students. Students who are underrepresented in the college population are eligible to participate under similar criteria as HEOP students without the state residency requirements and/or family income. Students admitted to the Excel Program are expected to adhere to the same policies and procedures of those enrolled in the HEOP.
This program is only available to students from selected high schools with whom Nazareth College has an ongoing partnership.
"The HEOP and Excel programs are definitely a home away from home. The friendships fostered here are wonderful and long lasting. I am forever grateful for this program."
