Nazareth Professor Helps Open imagineYou Lab for Teens

Published June 13, 2014

BrianBaileyImagineYou.jpgNazareth College faculty member Brian Bailey, associate professor of Education and director of Nazareth's Center for Service Learning, along with Rochester teens, ArtPeace and the Rochester Public library staff, saw several years of hard work become reality when imagineYou, an innovative, 21st century digital media production lab for teens, opened on June 9, 2014 at the Rochester Public Library.  The lab was created through a $100,00 grant from the MacArthur Foundation.

The lab is part of “Teen Central” and is located on the lower level of the Bausch + Lomb library building on South Avenue. Teens can produce their own media art (music recording, filmmaking, animation, digital photography, etc.). It is designed to facilitate a research-based education model known as connected learning – one that promotes discovery, creativity, critical thinking and real-world learning through activities and experiences that bring together academics and young people’s interests, often facilitated by digital media.
