Nazareth College Ranks Nationally In Washington Monthly College Ranking

Published September 01, 2016

Nazareth College is ranked 44th on a list of the Best Master's Universities by the 2016 Washington Monthly College Rankings. The College is also proud of its No. 2 rank in community service participation and hours served. According to the magazine's system, colleges are ranked by their contribution to the country, and it recognizes institutions that provide an outstanding education while maintaining affordability.

Nazareth students annually perform more than 273,000 hours of community outreach and service learning, and the College was one of five nationally named as a Presidential Awardee in the 2013 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest honor a college or university can receive for its commitment to community service and civic engagement, and was a finalist for the 2011, 2014, and 2015 award. Nazareth College has been named to the honor roll since its inception in 2006.

Nazareth also made the list of Washington Monthly's "Best Bang for the Buck" category at 192. The list includes schools that do the best job helping students of modest means earn marketable degrees at affordable prices, thus providing the best value to students and families. This ranking is not based solely on net price; instead the list looks at the number of students receiving Pell grants, and graduation and loan default rates.

Washington Monthly's new college rankings measure institutions based on three criteria: civic engagement (encouraging students to give something back to their country), research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and PhDs), and social mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students).
