Twenty-two Nazareth College students were honored with Community Service Awards at the President’s Civic Engagement Awards. Two students were honored with Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards. The ceremony was held on Tuesday, April 22 at 4 p.m. in the Otto A. Shults Center Forum. From a variety of different academic disciplines, the students were selected by a committee based on their commitment to service both on-campus and in the greater Rochester and global communities. Eight faculty and staff members will also be honored for their outstanding efforts to provide volunteer service to the community and live a civically engaged life.
The student honorees from the President’s Community Service Awards include Olivia Abbott ‘14, Stephanie Adams ‘15, Laura Babocsi ‘15, Melanie Beacham ‘14, Chazzarae Burgess ‘15, Rowan Collins ‘14, Christine Dorward ‘15, Alyson Durant ‘15, Magdalene Economou ‘15, Candice Gage ‘15, Yomayra Guerrero ‘16, Mary Grace Hamme ‘14G, Brittany Hughes ‘14, Mary Lugo ‘15, Cherise Madigan ‘15, Alexandra McFaddin ‘14, Danielle Mensing ‘15, Omonike Oyelola ‘17, Meaghan Porter ‘16, Briana Sanford ‘16, Katilyn Stayzer ‘14, and Hannah Wright ‘15. The student honorees for the MLK Awards include Denise Hynson and Jasmine Spence ‘14.
Faculty and staff members honored include Mr. Jeremy J. Bagley, coordinator veteran student enrollment and support services, Ms. Catherine Kirby, professor/program director, visual communication design in art, Dr. David Anderson, Ms. Jackie Bryant, director, teach opportunity collaboratives program in education, Ms. Debbie Cohen, executive secretary in student development, Dr. Marie Watkins, professor, director of community youth development, Mr. Charles K. Runyon, President/CEO St. John’s, and Ms. Deborah A. Hammond, director of recreation, St. John’s.
