Nazareth College’s mascot, the Golden Flyer, has taken the phrase “New Year, New You” very seriously. The Flyer, with the help of a few athletic trainers, is slimmed down, bulked up, and has taken on a new persona.
The Golden Flyer went public with his new look on January 12th at the men’s basketball game against Houghton College in the Kidera Gymnasium of the Otto A. Shults Center. The Flyer also announced that he wants the help of the Nazareth community to give him a new name! People can submit their ideas to name the Flyer HERE until Tuesday, Jan. 19. The winner will earn a $100 Barnes and Noble gift card.
The Flyer’s new name will be unveiled on Friday, January 29 at 7 p.m. during the men's ice hockey game against Manhattanville at the Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex in Henrietta.
Nazareth’s Golden Flyer mascot made his first appearance during the 1970s athletic season and has become a staple within the College’s athletics department.
