Nazareth College has announced plans for a unique new prayer space on campus specifically for those of the Jewish and Muslim faiths. The dedication will take place on Monday, May 1 at 11:00 a.m. in Linehan Chapel. All members of the Nazareth Community are welcome to attend, and representatives from local Muslim and Jewish communities are welcome. After brief opening remarks, a procession of the Nazareth Torah Scrolls will take place, leading to the new prayer space, located in the garden level of George Hall, under the dance studio across from Colie’s Cafe.
“True and lasting interfaith dialogue occurs at the level of relationship,” says Jamie Fazio, director of the Center for Spirituality, “we see this joint Jewish-Muslim prayer space not only to be a shared space for prayer, but one that promotes a vision of hope.”
This new prayer space will not only serve as a room for prayer but also a space to promote spiritual inclusion for all faiths for Nazareth students and the wider community. This space is the only one of its kind in the Rochester area.
