Nazareth Welcomes Ace Fellow James Spiller

Published January 30, 2017

Nazareth College is pleased to announce that an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow  James Spiller has selected the College as the site for his semester long fellowship. Spiller received his PhD. in History from the University of Wisconsin and is currently the graduate dean at SUNY Brockport. He will spend the semester working on selected projects in Nazareth’s Golisano Academic Center.

The ACE Fellows Program is the premier leadership development program for higher education, with more than 1,800 vice presidents, deans, department chairs, faculty, and other emerging leaders participating since its beginning in 1965. Spiller joins an elite group of 29 ACE Fellows this year from around the country. The program provides a customized learning experience that enables participants to immerse themselves in the culture, policies, and decision-making processes of another institution.

Spiller chose Nazareth because of the College’s, “focus on students, commitment to social engagement and justice, and matching of solid liberal arts, fine arts, and science education with professional coursework and degrees.”  He brings a wealth of experience in higher education and hopes to work with President Braveman on projects that support student retention and educational success.
