Nazareth Continues ThanksGIVING Traditions
Nazareth College is once again participating in two programs to give back to the Rochester community this Thanksgiving season. The College’s Center for Spirituality works annually with the Dimitri House in the City of Rochester to provide Thanksgiving baskets for families in the Rochester area who cannot afford their own. Additionally, the Campus Safety department will bring back the Food For Fines program from October 30 through November 10. During this time period, students can pay up to two parking tickets for a donation of four food items per ticket.
Nazareth has partnered with the Dimitri House annually to sponsor food baskets during the holidays. These baskets contain all the ingredients for a family that faces food insecurity to have a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. This year, the Center for Spirituality is prepared to sponsor 30-35 baskets, and Sodexo, the College’s dining service, will provide the turkeys. Students and members of the Rochester community who are interested in sponsoring a basket can RSVP by Friday, November 3 with the link below. Completed baskets should be delivered to Linehan Chapel in the Golisano Academic Center by Tuesday, November 14.
The Food For Fines program is also back by popular demand. During the time period of October 30 through November 10, students can pay up to two parking tickets with the donation of four items of food per ticket. Excluded tickets are handicap accessible spaces, fire zones, and/or moving violations. To participate, bring your ticket and food donations to Campus Safety, room 21 in the Shults Center.
