Washington Monthly’s 2018 College Guide Names Nazareth a Top 25 College

Published August 28, 2018

Nazareth College rose again in the rankings to land at 25th on a list of the Best Master's Universities by the 2018 Washington Monthly College Guide and Rankings, The 13th annual College Guide and Rankings rates colleges and universities on their contributions to social mobility, research, and public service.

According to the magazine's system, colleges are ranked by their contribution to the country, and it recognizes institutions that provide an outstanding education while maintaining affordability. Washington Monthly rankings consist of three equally weighted portions: social mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students), research (producing cutting-edge scholarship), and service (encouraging students to give something back to their country). This means that top-ranked colleges needed to be excellent across the full breadth of our measures, rather than excelling in just one measure.

Nazareth students excel in service, performing more than 357,000 hours of civic and community engagement in 2017. 97% of Nazareth students participate in civic engagement, addressing local and global challenges. In 2016, NASPA, the leading national association of Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, selected Nazareth for its 2015-2016 NASPA Grand Silver Medal Excellence Award. This Award, one of the three highest national NASPA awards, recognized the College for program excellence for its Partners for Learning and Partners for Serving programs.
