Naz Community Unites for Giving Day 2019, April 3

Published March 25, 2019

Nazareth College is ready to usher in springtime from “sunrise to sunset” as the College community worldwide celebrates 24-hours of Nazareth for Naz Giving Day 2019 on April 3.

Naz Giving Day 2019’s theme is Sunrise to sunset: the difference a day can make. It kicks off at midnight EST, and runs until 11:59 p.m. This is the College’s second annual giving day and the goal this year is 1,400 gifts.

“We are excited about the energy surrounding Giving Day 2019,” said Katie Mahoney-Krenzer ‘98, Nazareth’s associate director of Annual & Leadership Giving in Development. “We’ve got many members of our community volunteering as Giving Day ambassadors to spread the word to other alumni about how to give back and support Nazareth’s students, community, and future.”

There will be challenges throughout the day including decade challenges, a parents challenge, lunchtime and happy hour power hours, senior gift challenge, and social media challenges.

Athletics teams and their alumni are particularly competitive throughout giving day. “We’ve seen our donor numbers increase exponentially in the past two years and the enthusiasm from our coaches and alumni has been tremendous,” said Pete Bothner, Nazareth College athletics director.  “It’s a great way for our alumni and friends to support our current student-athletes in their quest to win conference championships.”

“We’re also starting something new this year on campus on Giving Day, called Goodies for Gratitude,” said Mary Kay Bishop, Nazareth’s associate vice president for Development and Government Relations. “We will be giving away cookies and Nazareth swag to students who write ‘thank you’ postcards to donors. It’s a new way to raise student awareness of philanthropy across campus.”

Last year’s Giving Day goal was 750 gifts, but donors helped Nazareth nearly double the original goal with 1,391 gifts totaling $267,473.
